OS X Mavericks

I downloaded the OS X 10.9 Mavericks GM a few days ago, launched the installer, and was up and running again only minutes later.

The only incompatible software it reported was Little Snitch. Later I noticed that some Presstube screen savers and the WebKit nightly builds also don't work anymore.  Microsoft AutoUpdate downloaded Lync 14.0.6 but wouldn't even try to install it, so I did that manually.

So far everything feels nice and familiar, only faster and smoother.  I do miss the way tagged files and folders had a background color, which was replaced by a color dot (or dots) next to the filename.

A nice surprise is that the Notes app can finally do full text search inside the current note.  And importing images with Image Capture seems crazy fast now.  It seems to me that I now have about 25 GB more disk space than before.  And the Mission Control (Exposé) animations are much smoother now on the Retina MacBook Pro. Safari also seems to react faster.

Seems like a worthy upgrade so far, and I haven't even played around with the new features yet.

Update: To get MacPorts to work again, I executed xcode-select --install to get the command line tools.
